Material ID

Hi There,

An important feature in post editing your renders in Photshop is Material ID.

In the new Vray 3.0 in rhino this render element/channel is not working…is this a bug?? EDIT: It turns out if you use old scenes/old materials, MaterialID will not show.

All the other channels that give some sort of colour (like object iD or Render ID) are not Anti aliased (very pixaleted around the edges) thus making them useless.

Is there a work around for this…how come all the other channels are still not anti aliased?

Please help as it makes the workflow very difficult.

Cheers

Justin

Hello, Justin,

Materials created using V-Ray 2.0 for Rhino have Material ID color set to black. To amend that, V-Ray 3.4 for Rhino introduces a couple of one-click tools: V-Ray > Tools > Randomize Material ID and Randomize Object ID.

Regarding your second question, it has already been discussed at - Chaos Forums
Due to user feedback, there is an ongoing internal discussion about this. Any changes stemming from it will be announced when the update containing them is published.
As a temporary workaround, you can use any suitable render elements which produce filtered results. MaterialID is one such channel.

Kind regards,
Peter Chaushev

Object ID do not support anti-aliasing. You need to use the Material ID.
