I’m testing a matte object at the moment with RT, but it only appears to work with RT in CPU mode. Does this not work with openCL? I’m using a Nvidia 580 gfx card.
Are there any workarounds I can consider?
Thanks

The matte material is not supported yet unfortunately.

Thanks for letting me know Vlado!
We’ll get to it, I just to figure out a good way to render it on the GPU… the way it’s done in the production renderer cannot be easily ported to the way the GPU code works right now.

Vlado
I would love to see this in GPU…I do a lot of studio renders and this is one of the limitations that keeps me from GPU rendering. Hopefully it can be done.
Hi, is there any news on the matte objects on GPU? I need alpha too so I have to use GPU.
…and unfortunately I am still on vray 2.50.01
Unfortunately not yet.
ok, thanks for a quick answer, is it the same with vray 3? does CPU alpha work with vray 3?
It is the same for V-Ray 3 RT/GPU, RT /CPU should work with matte surfaces, but there are some issues that still need to be fixed.
ok, thanks again tashko
I’ve been wanting this on GPU for a while.
