Ok here is the scenario, I selected a bunch of objects to be matte through V-Ray properties and 2 of them are refusing to render as matte, they just render normal. Any ideas why this may be happening? I cant for the life of me figure out why these 2 objects are not cooperating and in a real bind as I need it rendered yesterday of course.
Can you send us the scene so we could investigate it?
V-Ray and 3dsMax version would be also very helpful.
Ill strip it down and send it off to you.
**EDIT**
I think its something to do with the material, I just tried using the override material in the global settings and now the offending objects are not rendering in the RGB pass
Ill still try to get you a file shortly I just need to get this back in the farm to re render.
Ok I sent a modified file that still exhibits the problem above to support. looking forward to the answer.
**EDIT**
Just got a ticket number #849759
Thanks for the ticket ID, I can see that my colleagues already replied to you and I am going to paste the reply here just in case anyone face the same thing:
This is the expected behavior when there are reflections on a matte object. You cam set the Reflection amount to 0 in V-Ray object properties for the result you are looking for.
Ok Im going to put a wishlist suggestion in to be able to turn off reflections via a switch in the V-Ray properties as modifying over a hundred materials one by one and recording what each was set to return them is going to be a huge pain in the butt.
Thanks for the explanation though, at least I know whats causing it and can fix it for lack of better terms.
Reflection amount is in V-Ray Properties actually and as such it can be applied on multiple objects.
Just select all objects you would like to set that option from the browser on the left side of the V-Ray Properties and set the desired change.
I cant believe I didnt see that, even took me a min to find it on the right side of my panel lol. Thank you very much for pointing that out.
Yeah … there are too many options there, maybe it’s time to split those into categories in separate tabs.
In truth between my arthritis and my back being buggered Im on some crazy strong meds and that may have contributed to the inability to see the options
in hindsight my creative level has gone up lol
