Max 8 and Xref scenes

We have an old, very large project that needs some updates. The project is 30-odd large office buildings on a masterplan. Some of the buildings have now been changed so we need to update the Max model and do some re-rendering.

We initially built the model uising Max7, but we have since upgraded to Max8. Each of the buildings were seperate Xrefs, and each of those Xfrefs was itself made up of other Xrefs. For example:

“Building A” is made up of “Building A:main”, “Building A:glass”, “Building A:lights”, “Building A:cars” etc.

This worked flawlessly in Max7, but now we are in Max8, because “Building A” is made up of only Xrefs, they cannot be seen in the main masterplan file. Xrefs containing Xrefs seem not to be allowed in this latest release.

Is this a fact, or am I missing something?

never had any issues with this tricky.
Sounds like you might have some paths that arent named right or have been converted to UNC naming

Mmm. Will double check, but I can’t see what would’ve changed. When we load up just the Xref scenes (with the xref sub-components within it), it loads just fine as expected. Its just when this xref scene is loaded into the main masterplan file that nothing appears.
