I just started testing MAX8 and the snaps will not go to any grid points that a smaller than what I set up in options. I have it set for 12" and major lines at 12 for 1" squares. Same as I had in MAX7 but it does not work in MAX8. I can’t snap to the smaller grid points, even the 1" grid points. I looked, but I can not find a fix. Can anyone help?

Well to answer my own post, I found a fix.
You have to copy the file grid.dls from ther MAX7 stdplugs folder and replace the same file in the MAX8 folder. Works like a charm!
This problem has got to be a bug they missed in MAX8, but luckily there is a fix.

From what I understand in setting up grids, if you set the grid size to 12" and the major grid lines to 12, that means you get a 1 foot grid, with major grid lines displayed at every 12 feet.
I think what you want is to use gridlines set to 1" with major grid every 12.
I tried that Dynedain, but you still can’t snap to the smaller grid points. The fix I suggested, solves the problem. You can snap to the very smallest grid points you can zoom to, just like in MAX7.
max 8 will be a big problem dudes.
why do you say that morbid?
many new features will carry many new bugs…i hear bad responses from everywhere. We will see what majority of users has to say about m8 soon.
we are holding off from installing it at the moment, wait untill problems are found for us
snapping…didnt hear that one, but go read on cgtalk…there is some bad bad bugs.
theres no way Im putting it into production till they get the spines sorted out as I build 80% of my models with them
If you didnt know there is a bug where drawing a spline object in any viewport other than “top” convert to editable spline and using the refine command puts verticies anywhere but where you clicked, there is a work around where putting a edit spline mod on to of it but thats kinda a pain if you ask me…
