I recently noticed that Enscape now supports the Meta Quest 3. I need a VR headset for virtual tours in our architecture projects with Rhino. My current PC specs are not very decent (CPU: i7-5820K @ 3.3 GHz, RAM: 16 GB, GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 with 8GB shared memory). Given that the Quest 3 is standalone, I was wondering if I could avoid upgrading my current setup and still have a smooth VR experience in Enscape with Rhino.
I would appreciate any recommendations.
Hi @AlirezaB , welcome to our Forum and thanks for your inquiry.
Right away, the Quest 3 can indeed be a standalone headset, relying on apps acquired through the Oculus store and such, but at least currently our standalones are not available natively given the variation in performance that would occur depending on the scene’s complexity as well.
So at the moment you can still either connect the Quest 3 to any supported machine or even use the device wireless as long as you have a capable router.
Still, it has to be said that the GTX 1080 will not suffice I’m afraid for Enscape in VR. You can check out our dedicated VR system requirements here as well in case you ever get the chance to upgrade accordingly perhaps in the future!
If you ever need any more specific recommendations or have any more detailed questions let me know anytime of course.
Hi,
Is the new Meta Quest VR headset (Quest 3S) compatible with Enscape? I’m looking to use it for a VR tour in Rhino. Thank you!
Hey @AlirezaB ,
The new Quest 3s seems to relatively identical to a Quest 3 regarding software and connection to the computer. I think it’s just hardware and memory that are different. This said, while we didn’t test Enscape specifically with this headset yet, I’m pretty confident it will be supported the same as the Quest 3 is.
Hey @Kaj Burival
,
I’m thinking about getting a new setup for VR tours, either the Quest 3 or Quest 3s, to use with Enscape. Here are the specs of the machine I’m considering, and I just wanted to get your opinion to make sure it’ll give me a smooth VR experience:
- Processor: 14th Gen Intel Core i9-14900KF
- Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080 Super 16GB GDDR6X
- Memory: 32GB DDR5-4000MHz
Would like to hear your thoughts on whether this will work well for VR!
Thanks a lot!
What about Mac Computer? Can I use Enscape + Meta Quest 3 with cable if not Air Link?
Thank you
