No shadows from materials with transparency turned on..

I wanted to make semi transparent material for buildings surrounding the project site. I didn’t notice at first but this material doesn’t give shadows at all..

I guess it is a bit to do with sKetchup it self since it has that binary behavior about shadows (on off : nothing between). I tried in another model of simple house with window and glass in it.. even if I will make the material maximum opacity, black tint, toggle the frosted option on, and give it a 100% roughness it still causes no shadows.

Works realistic enough for me with clear glass, but hard to imagine that some heavily tinted thick glass would give not a bit of shade…

@tomasz_drgas : We don’t yet support colored/diffused light through colored glass, nor colored shadows yet, I’m afraid. However, it is something that is on our agenda, and I have upvoted the existing feature request on your behalf.

lighter shade of transparent objects is vital in many occasions. I think that that could be “worked out” by Enscape Team…

+1 from me too please.

@komlenic and @DeKoetsier I’ve added your upvotes to the feature request

I would love to see a feature like this as well…

With the raytraced sun/shadows, this should be possible or?

Yes, this becomes technically possible/easier to implement with ray tracing, than with shadow maps. However it’s not yet in there for the 3.1 release. But we have it on our radar for future releases
