Is V-Ray 2.4 compatible with OSX 10.10 Yosemite?
No idea whatsoever; we need to buy another Mac to test it. But if Maya itself runs fine, chances are high that V-Ray will run fine too.
Best regards,
Vlado
OSX 10.10 is not supported officially so far. A few OSX-beta users already reported crashes with V-Ray License server.
There you go… it’s like a constant nightmare…
Best regards,
Vlado
I’ve been playing with it. I did have a license issue, but it was resolved by restarting the license server. The license server is NOT running under Yosemite. I’ve been able to render single frames, but haven’t tried any batch renders yet.
I would be interested to know how Chaos Group is going to implement environment variables in Yosemite. The method used for Mavericks (/etc/launchd.conf) does not work.
What about VRay 3.0 and the new license server - do we know it that will run on Yosemite?
Yeah… I think this is the third time we’ve had to rework this now. I really wish those guys would settle on some way that doesn’t change every couple of years.
Best regards,
Vlado
This seems to be a bit of a hit and miss (i.e. it’s worked in some cases, and not in others). If you have the option of running the license server itself on a Linux or Windows machine, it would be best.
Best regards,
Vlado
ok, i’ll se if i can dig up an linux machine to run the license server on
- thanks!
Any thoughts on which way you are leaning, Vlado? Any guidance would be useful.
Thanks,
Jason
A little update on the topic.
We still do not have a License Server which supports OSX Yosemite but a lot of customers informed us that everything works fine if the latest V-Ray License Server and the latest WiBu drivers are installed.
Please download and re-install the latests versions of V-Ray License Server and WiBu drivers from the links bellow:
http://www.chaosgroup.com/en/2/downl…license-server
If you come across any issues after the re-installation please contact us at support@chaosgroup.com along a link to this thread.
Sorry for repeating information but we seem to have two topics ongoing in this thread.
I’m less concerned about the license server (our is working fine
) than I am about the client installation. The method Chaos Group uses for creating environment variables in Mavericks (/etc/launchd.conf) has been removed by Apple in Yosemite.
Thanks,
Jason
As far as I know the only issue that we have so far under Yosemite is related to the license server not to V-Ray itself.
The “launchd.conf” file is one of the options to set environment variables but it is not the only one that we are using.
If you are facing any issues under Yosemite please report.
Great news - finally we can upgrade
- well after next project, that is.. or the next.. ![]()
