I use this type of projection (in Hugin ) a lot when photographing very wide angle views too. It stops the horizontal stretching you see at the left/right sides of rectilinear wide angle images - no more fat people!

That may actually be interesting for me doing product shots, too. I had this “fat” issue when photographing a collection of similarish products where the outer ones tend to get fatter.

not a bad idea. but you can always render out a 360 image. and do it in hugin, ptgui, krpano etc…

shure I can, but still not the same as having camera with that projection. and there is also a hassle of matching to pannini backplate. I don’t mind having incorect representation of it in the viewport, RT would be enough to see what the frame looks like.

Is CG bound by contract to develop/use the 3ds max one now? Or do they still have the ability to program their own?

oh, max’s 2016 phys camera, I forgot about that, I’m still on 2015 and definitely not planing on switching. so usual cam overrides from VRay settings don’t work anymore???

I agree, this sort of camera correction would be quite useful when working in tight architectural spaces. Some implementation is already there via " Cylindrical(Point)" Camera. I wander if it’d be possible for Chaos Group programmers to just add a slider to control affine translation between Physic…
