I have a question - how to simulate polarization? For example, we have a car filmed with polarization. There is a 3D model of it with, say, different spoilers and a different color. It turns out it is impossible to even get close to the original picture?
Ive been using a fall-off texture plugged into the relfection colour of any shaders that I want to affect. Then I set the fall off to explicit channels and play with the angles till it controls where I want to kill reflection. It works pretty well so far for the look I want.
What if the car moves? All by hand to animate or maybe there is some near-realistic practice of trying to simulate polarization ?
Cant speak to any realistic solution for it. I havnt tested my falloff texture method yet for animation, but it works well for stills.
I thought there might be an OSL shader for this somewhere ? ![]()
