Reasons for current default "Global DMC" settings?

Hi,
I am still getting adjusted to the new way of setting up VRay since the new sampling stuff.

Now what I was wondering what are the reasons for the defaults in the Global DMC tab?

1) Min Samples 16 - why not 8 like it used to be? Why would I need more to start with?
2) Adaptive Amount: I was usually setting this to 0.95 in older scenes, it renders very fast since the early termination can kick in faster. Why leave it at 0.85? Is it a “fail safe” setting for…I don’t know… difficult scenes/dark scenes?

It seems to be a more reliable value when using something like the irradiance map.

Note that with the default V-Ray settings, these two values have little to no effect anyways which is why they are hidden.

Best regards,
Vlado

Thanks for the explanation! Since the update I find myself rarely using IR-Map anymore.
