1) In the Render Elements its not possible to select the material id that I gave the material. I need to render the alpha mask of different materials (like in 3.7).
2) And if you uncheck the “Enable” checkbox the render elements are rendered anyway.
3) In 3.7 you could save and load presets of the multipasses. This should be added here as well.
Hi @klex167 ,
It was mentioned a few times already but with V-Ray 5 a big part of the workflow was changed to match how it works and how it is in the other V-Ray integrations from a long time ago. The Material ID is also in this category and as in the other V-Ray integrations it renders all the materialID’s in one pass. The Render Element that you’re looking for is the Object Select Render Element. When you add it make sure to enable “Use Mtl ID” and set your ID’s in the “Id Selection mode” drop down menu.
That is odd. You’re right the “Use mtl ID” doesn’t work with the official builds but works fine in our internal builds. I’ve logged it in our system, so we can pick the fix as soon as possible. If it is ok for you as a workaround please use it as Object ID (Uncheck the Use mtl ID option) and set the ID from the Object Properties tag for now.
Hi Ivan, for your workaround I would have to divide all objects with more materials attached (polyselection). This is not very convenient. I hope there will be a fix soon.
But thanks anyway!
the issue with the “Use Mtl ID” option should be fixed with the latest official release build. Let me know if this works for you and if you’re experiencing any issues.
But I have to ask why “Object Select” always generates 3 pictures for every selected object/mtl?
In the docs its writen: “When rendering this element out, it will also include a filter and alpha passes separately to help make it easier to use when compositing.”
Is there no way to deactivate this? I have many render elements (to have more flexibility in the post production) and with rendering long animations with thousands of frames this blows up the whole output unnecessary.
(1 minute with 10 elements are 45.000 pictures instead of 15.000)
