Update. I did find a new benchmark on the techreport which did show a comparison of the new bulldozer 8 core chips versus a Sandy Bridge based intel chip with 4 cores. The Sandy bridge chips were faster with just half the cores. It looks like I will be purchasing intel.

Get either 2x 2600k Intel CPU and OVERCLOCK it to 4.5 ghz= cheaper option Or get 2x Xeon E 5530/5520 and OVERCLOCK it to 4 ghz = more expensive option = u need EVGA SR 2 motherboard.

Whatever you decide, just make sure you *do not* get a quad-processor AMD machine, they do not have a good performance for rendering at the moment. Single or dual-processor is ok, as far as we could test here. Best regards, Vlado
