Saving Sun Positions in Enscape+Vectorworks

Hello

I am not able to save the sun’s position for any of my views.

I read the Knowledgebase Article on Sun and Geolocaiton: https://enscape3d.com/community/blog/knowledgebase/sun_geolocation/

but none of this is working for us, on our side: VW Architektur 2020 SP4 (German Version)

Any sort of connection with a Heliodon (Sonnenstand) is not working.

Even when using the saved views in Collaboration Mode inside of Enscape which is quite handy, will not save the sun’s position.

Thanks for any help on this.

Alan

Hi @alan_e

The sun position is not saved in a view for Vectorworks at this moment indeed as seen in our Knowledge Base article here.

Likewise discovered that the sun position bore no relationship with the VW heliodon. It’s worth mentioning that in addition to using the shift+RHmouse control of time of day, you can use Ctrl+U or I to set the base angle and height. So - I’ve been setting time to 12:00 and then setting base angle and height to suit orientation / time of year, and then everything works - during that session anyway - although this all needs repeating each time Enscape is closed/re-opened. It would be really good if the link to the VW heliodon can be (re) made, although this work-around at least works.

Hi @PhilBixby

Unfortunately not at the moment indeed, but glad to see you found a work around for it.

I have added both votes to our feature request to save the sun settings in a saved view however.

Seems to be working now on Version 3.0! Good Work!

Schön, das zu hören! - great to hear that!
