scaling vray light seems to have issues

it seems that scaling a vray sphere light have some issues or not excepted behavior http://c2n.me/3ynlz4T.png the light is scaled down to the red ellipse, but you see the sphere in the material around…
is this known?

thanks and best regards

I don’t think that scaling in viewport has any effect on the actual light. you’d probably better off modelling an object of the correct shape and use it as mesh light.

The V-Ray sphere light will not work correctly with non-uniform scaling (it uses sampling that is specific to spheres only); you need to use a mesh light for that.

well that’s bad… but good to know. I thought it works with scaling. maybe you should lock it, so it can’t be scaled, it’s a bit unclear because you can scale them…

what I miss for default vray light’s is still a cylinder shaped light, because I think the meshlight works not the way the default lights do…

+1 for the cylinder mode. I use meshlights for it currently but I often found myself in a situation where cylinder mode would have been useful.

+1 for cylinder !!! I don’t understand why it’s still not there …

Because we chose to focus on other things first… will get to it at some point.

Yes, I’d have guessed that … it was more a way of talking - no offense
