is there a way to select an object from the rendered image in the FB
Playing with RenderMan, eh
It’s not terribly difficult based on the render ID element, but it would be very low priority for now.

Vlado
You can get a mask for a specific objects/s using the Multimatte render element. If this is what you mean by “select”.
Can you share some more details on the this request ?
Actually Vlado has just replied to you:)
yes vlado… thanks for reply… very handy feature…
tashko i like to select the object in the maya outliner not the pixel on the image…
any news here..? once again i find this feature really helpful…
Nope. Like I said it’s a bit low priority. Will get there, but probably in a few months.
One question though. This will need an additional render element (the render ID one). If this feature is always enabled, the element will always be created thus taking up extra memory. Should this be an optional feature?
Best regards,
Vlado
optional yes… maybe only if you are working in IPR mode…
Oh, hm. V-Ray RT already supports this, we just have to implement it in the UI… it’s not a problem to find out that info during a render.

Vlado
that would be really cool during lookdev…
in selectionmode you select with LMB the object and with RMB the shader… ![]()
Well, if you do IPR in the viewport, you get that for free… but I’ll see if we can easily add at least selection to the V-Ray VFB.

Vlado
