SketchUp & Enscape -an unbeatable combination

Nice compilation!

I’m curious - how did you got the solid liquid in the drinks and bottles? Is it water material?

Thank you Miicha.

I made the materials transparent and adjusted in Enscape. The drink which is on the table with girls i also added some weak emissiveness to.

Wow, brilliant video! Thanks for sharing. Judging from the video, I assume you use the current preview version or has the recording of the restaurant been made with the release one?

Thank you.

You are correct Thomas. I used current preview. Amazing recording speed! -Only 30minutes for restaurant!

@Thomas_Willberger Did you understand, why at Rhino I get an automatic wall thickness of approx. 4mm for every glass object? Is it a Rhino limitation and will be changed if the material editor is ready for Rhino? Did I something wrong?

screenshot from the video - nice solid liquid

@Epix_3D Adding light emissive effect it a nice trick. I tried it at Rhino in the past, but the objects lost the transparency. @Thomas_Willberger , did you know why it doesn’t work at Rhino?

Independant from all our plugins: Transparent surfaces with emissive is not supported. The glass thickness behaves the same.

@Epix_3D Looks like you got something you didn’t pay for. I would be very curious to know how it can be looking like it is working, because this two effects are so much missed often.

Micha, Thomas is right. You have to choose emissive or transparent. But depending on the texture and lighting situation you can use either one.

Here I used both

OK, I understand. Did you use some billboard textures too? For example the green bottles and the clear at the right?

It´s just textures with glass material added

Great workflow. It’s a pity that Rhino doesn’t support billboard objects. Since Enscape is a tool for architects maybe it could get an own billboard support per keyword. I never expect that billboards are looking so good in animations. Your video is a nice example.

Thank you.

Micha, -it´s not a billboard, -but a 3d model with textures

Ah, ok. I looked through your video again - at this drink glass you get a perfect looking solid filled glass effect, a nice solid refaction. How did you build it? Is the liquid an object intersection with the glass? I ask, because at Rhino all objects looks like hollow.

Sorry, if I ask so much here, but at Rhino it looks so bad and I never found an answer how to get your look. I spend hours to find the way. Do you have an idea what I did wrong? Water looks better, but this is not the way, or?

Here´s how the glass is modelled

So, you have a small gap between liquid and glass. Here at Rhino it doesn’t look so good like at your SketchUp scene. It will stay a riddle.

Thank you.

Maybe we can have a try on this forum see how close we can come to recreate this image which is the real deal (Photo)

Good idea. Could you create a simple test scene per SketchUp?

Here is temporary download to a SketchUp model for those who wanna have a go..

Thank you for the model. I setup a simple scene and it looks better as at my previous tests, the liquid looks like liquide.

Here a close up shot

The automatic thin wall cause a double glass effect. I removed the inner surface of the glass and additional I scaled the liquid a little bit (nice dispersion effect):

And here the first view with changed left glas geometry:

So, the liquid looks better than expected. I would be curious to see the glasses without automatic thin wall effect. The right second glass foot looks hollow, maybe this could be avoid by disabling the thin glass automatic. A keyword or a flag option could be a nice solution.

It’s a pity that the polygons of the mesh cause a distortion in the glass. @Thomas_Willberger It it on the bug tracker?
