Suggestions for procedural herringbone floor material?

I need to create a timber herringbone floor material like this:-

Any ideas how to do this over a large area? Normally for herringbone paving (with a simple 2x1 ratio), I use BerconTile in the diffuse with a MultiTexture material pointing to a load of textures of boards that I have. This doesn’t work for this sort of herringbone pattern though.

Any tips? I don’t want to have to manually create a huge bitmap if at all possible.

I could look at Arroway, but it would be nice to have the control that procedural materials gives me.

you could… ummmm. model them!?

Yeah, you can just model it and use multitexture. that’s what I did to create the textures here: Misc Textures - CG-Source

you’ve thought about the possibility of using CrossMap?
It is very useful for my

Look at this:

Regards.

We have considered doing just that.

if it was me i’d rather model the floor and use Suurland’s multitexture to get nice randomisation of textures than spend ages in photoshop making a huge bitmap. Thankfully I dont seem to spend much time making massive textures anymore, man how I used to hate doing that!

Probably too late now but…

Ben - I came accross this the other day. Isn’t it just for Mental Ray though?

Bercontile will only give me standard 2x1 herringbone patterns unfortunately.
