Hi there,
I’m currently building a model of the Art Warehouse by A31 Arcitecture. And I’m currently struggling with the texture mapping of the front sideof the arched roof.
I’ve tried capped cylindrical mapping, but also detaching the front arch surface and texturing it separately - nothing helped. Any suggetions?
Greetz and thanks in advance.
I think the only way will be to model the end surface separately and in a way that will get you the proper UV arrangement.
Try using the Revolve command.
Ok, I tried it and it works fine. I join the file.

Thank you, very much, mgibeault.
I was also advised to use the ‘Ribbon’ Command and after that using the Surface Texture Mapping. It worked fine, but, I have some big issues matching the Roof texture to the front Arch element. Copying the UV values doesn’t do it either.
I’ve seen that.. please stop posting the same questions in the two forums!
To people who might be interested, here’s the other thread: Radial/Concentric Texture Mapping [problem] - Rhino for Windows - McNeel Forum
My bad, sorry. It’s not on a bad purpose or something. Sometimes I really don’t know where I could get any/more info, especially when it comes to texturing - something inbetween Rhino and Vray…
Will try to avoid that in future.
What those, who don’t hang around in both Rhino and Vray forums, I’ll post the solution by ‘clement’, which worked out pretty fine for radial texture mapping of halfpipe caps :
1. Detach the cap side
2. Create a new matching cap, using the ‘_Ribbon’ {by clement} or the ‘_Revolve’ {by mgibeault} commands
3. Explode the rest of the halfpipe mantle surface
4. Shrink it, using ‘_ShrinkTrimmedSrf’
5. Check the UV directions of both ribbon/revolve and mantle surface, using ‘_Dir’
6. If the UV directions don’t match, use the SwapUV option under ‘_Dir’
7. Use Surface Texture Mapping on both surfaces - now they should match
(if they still don’t match, try rotating one of the UVW directions to 90°)
Special thanks also to mgibeault for the Revolve solution.

+ For those… (sorry, the edit function strikes right now)
