Texture maps

Hi everyone; I am new to working with texture maps. With many sites you can download different maps of the same texture ie ao bump diffuse normal roughness specular displacement. Is sketchup along with enscape able to make use of all these different maps or should i just be downloading normals and let the enscape material editor do all the work. Could someone briefly explain the Inter relationships. I dont have time for processing in other applications eg blender or gimp.

in SketchUp material editor your only have the option to set a texture and it’s size, all the other maps (bump, normal, specular etc) are set in Enscape’s material dialog.

In a previous post it was pointed out that if a normal maps file name ends in _n (underscore n) then it can be used in the bump map setting.

Many thanks

There are many tutorials on this topic on youtube and our Enscape blog. Like this one:

Thanks thomas, my query was more aimed at like which maps of a given texture i should be bothering to download with sites such as textures.com

… regardless of the fact that I’m still wobbling between all these terms  this is a very good question, which I have been asking myself so often as well.

Enscape-Team - A more precise answer to the asked question would be so desirable

Ok, I will try again:

  • Albedo (For the “color”)
  • Normal (For the surface’s orientation variation)
  • Roughness map / Glossiness map (Those are inverse: Roughness = 1.0 - Glossiness)

You don’t need (among others):

  • Displacement (not supported)
  • Specular (Being F0 aka. the specular parameter: It’s a single parameter for the whole Enscape material not a texture)
  • Metal (Usuall 1 or 0 for the whole material, not a texture too).

Thanks for the video on tips and tricks of enscape materials..!!!
