Dear Enscape Team,
I’m reaching out with a sense of frustration and disappointment regarding my ongoing experience with Enscape for Archicad, which I started using two to three years ago.
When I initially subscribed to Enscape, I had to rely on a PC alongside my Mac because Enscape was not available on macOS. That was an inconvenience, but I made it work. When Enscape finally launched for Mac, I was excited to transition—only to find out it wasn’t compatible with Intel-based Macs, which left me stuck again.
Now, having just invested in a new M4 MacBook Pro, I was looking forward to finally working seamlessly on one machine without relying on a shadow PC. And yet, here I am facing another hurdle: my 3Dconnexion SpaceNavigator, which has been an integral part of my workflow for years, is not supported on Enscape for Mac.
This is extremely frustrating. The SpaceNavigator works perfectly on Enscape for Windows—why is it not supported on Mac? Many professionals rely heavily on this tool; without it, our efficiency and workflows are severely impacted.
I urge you to address this issue immediately. Please escalate this to your development team and provide a resolution in the near term. I’m due to renew my Enscape license in five days, but this situation makes me question whether it’s worth continuing my subscription.
I truly hope you can resolve this promptly. This is not just a minor inconvenience; it’s a critical issue for those of us who rely on professional-grade tools to deliver our work.
Looking forward to your response.
Best regards,
Hey Atelier Romantique - I’m sorry to hear about your discontent.
We’re aware of the issue. You can read more about it here: https://chaosenscape.ideas.aha.io/ideas/ENSCAPE-I-1502
Feel free to leave a vote as well! Right now, we’re in contact with the 3DConnexion team with hopes to make their platform on Mac recognize Enscape, just like on windows =) I hope this gets resolved quickly.
Thanks for your feedback.
I definitly hope that it’s gonna be solved quickly.
Bests,
Dear Enscape Team,
Following my earlier message regarding the lack of support for the 3Dconnexion SpaceNavigator on Enscape for macOS, I have received a response from 3Dconnexion that clarifies the situation. According to their documentation, the integration of 3D mouse functionality into applications like Enscape requires your development team to implement support using their SDK.
Here is the relevant information provided by 3Dconnexion:
How can 3D mouse support be added to my favorite application?
As a long-time user of both Enscape and the 3Dconnexion SpaceNavigator, I urge you to prioritize this integration. The SpaceNavigator is a critical tool for professionals in architecture and design, allowing precise and intuitive 3D navigation. Its lack of compatibility on macOS severely hampers productivity and workflow, especially for those of us who rely on macOS-based setups.
Since the SDK is readily available and 3Dconnexion seems supportive of facilitating this process, I hope your development team can take the necessary steps to add native SpaceNavigator support to Enscape for Mac. This would greatly enhance the usability of your software for Mac users and ensure a consistent experience across platforms.
Please let me know if this is under consideration or if there are plans to address this issue. Many of us are eager to see this functionality implemented soon.
Thank you for your attention, and I look forward to your response.
Thank you for the update @Atelier_Romantique . We are already in contact about this with 3Dconnexion, as you can see in the Aha board link I shared with you. Here the admin response from that link:
Hi Enscape Team,
I wanted to follow up regarding the lack of 3Dconnexion SpaceNavigator support for Enscape on macOS.
3Dconnexion has confirmed that their SDK is available and that the integration of their 3D mouse support depends on the application’s development team. You can find more details here:
3Dconnexion Support Documentation
For many of us, the SpaceNavigator is a key part of our workflow, allowing smooth and intuitive navigation in 3D environments. The absence of this support on macOS makes the user experience much less efficient compared to the Windows version.
Is this feature on your radar, and is there any timeline for its implementation? This improvement would greatly enhance the experience for Mac users, especially those of us who have upgraded to Apple Silicon machines to take full advantage of Enscape’s performance.
Thanks in advance for your feedback—I hope this feature can be prioritized soon!
Best,
