Hello, I am attempting to instance a vdb volume onto 80 points and when I render with the Hydra delegate the RAM usage spikes into the stratosphere. Can I not do true instancing with volumes and the usd point instancer?
Thanks.
Best, Christian

Hi @pixeldrone Thank you for contacting us!
If you are using Тхе Volume Grid Shader, please, turn off fire lights, volumetric light cache as well as optimize volumetric grid. This should resolve the situation.
Thanks, I did this but the memory still explodes. It seems that the USD instancer is treating each volume as an individual volume and thus loading each volume grid into memory as opposed to only loading the one instance into memory, making the whole instancing memory efficient. I don’t have this problem with the same systtem in Karma, it only acts like this with the VRay delegate.
