Are the v-ray lens effects also part of vray for maya? And if, where can I find it?

They are not in Maya yet, but we are working on this.
Best regards,
Vlado
looking forward to this !! thx for the info
I got the V-Ray Lens Effects in Maya today.
It was a little bit hard to find the UI, but it is in VFB. ![]()
Open Color Corrections Window of VFB and click the Open Lens Effects Setting.
And then just need to click the new icon for “Use Lens Effects” in VFB before Rendering.
It is working interactively in Real Time.
Working great!!! I really appreciate it.
Thanks a lot for V-Ray Lens Effects!!!
Best Regards,
Sangho Jung.
Are those effects usable as passes or render elements? So one could use it as a base or preview effect in comp? Anyway, thanks for implementing.
Yes, we have render elements for the Lens effects.
Nice, thanks!
Am I right to say this is not in the Stable yet?
Thanks,
yannick
it works - great!!!
but with DR I´ve black buckets from the slaves…
with single machine render it works
It is still work in progress; there is some more development being done on that.
Best regards,
Vlado
aahhh
great. Thanks a lot guys.. !!
edit: mmhh some very strange results, when changing the weight for bloom and also for glare the light and overall colors turn from neutral to greenish or redish. atm trying maya 2011 osx with the build 18402, since it’s the latest for osx. will try the latest win7 version in the evening and see if it’s a osx thing.
I dont have access ot the nightlies yet.
But does the fstop effect the shape of the glows like in real life? Ie if you point at the sun with a real camera with an f-stop of like 22, the sun becomes a star, open it up and it’s a blur. Does this happen with VRayLensEffects?
Absolutely love the new Lens Effects, they’re fantastic!
A note to our favorite Bulgarians:
The controls are very well hidden within the Color Corrections window. Would it be more user friendly to add the settings as its own icon on the bottom of the VFB?
Really great work on this feature, it has been much anticipated and it just looks beautiful!
This is already done, but it’s not in the nightly builds yet.
Best regards,
Vlado
I’m not seeing a render element yet for the lens effects. When I make them, I see a new RE pop up in the VRay Framebuffer, but it contains the entire beauty pass + lens effects on top, so I can’t comp it on top in Nuke later on that way. I suppose I could subtract the beauty pass from the lens effects pass to isolate it.
I find it’s also a bit hit and miss in terms of when it’ll work and when it won’t…especially the glare section, bloom seems more reliable.
I think in Max there is a PostFx Element for this. Sounds like a good way to do it.
Hi is there a reason Glare renders out a “soft” version of the entire image rather than just the glare (as in Infinity Visions 3DS Max plugin for V-Ray)?
Using a Catmull Rom AA filter and glare makes everything very soft negating the sharp AA filter. It also would make it better for post just to have a black background of the glare effect.
Well to check, I just downloaded the V-Ray for Max trial and it seems that the “intensity” or glare mask works in 3DS Max, but it seems this is not the case in Maya yet?
