Volumetric question

Has there been any development in the dailies re: the problem that the camera needs to be outside the volumetric lighting volume to be able to render the rays?

Thanks
Jack

It looks like archviz-only features are on the fast lane now so we probably won’t see any improvement in the next time.
I fully agree though, I’d love to see some improvements here, most importantly the ability to use procedurals in a truly volumetric way.

Actually:
-if you are rendering a scene where there is a camera and some object which is volumetric, the camera cannot be inside of that object to make the volumetric effects visible
-if you are rendering a scene with fog, you can use “global volume material” in scene settings for this

@Maru sorry yes thats what i mean :). I fixed it. I did use the global volume material at first but it seemed a little slower as my scene is dark and has a single shaft of moonlight coming from one window. Its probably not pHysically accurate to light a scene in that way but hey, Thats what CGI is for right :stuck_out_tongue: Either way has there been any improvement on them since 1.2?

Thanks
