Hi I am a 3ds max design 2014 and vray 2.40.04 user, after i get some comment from this forum, i know that vray embree can speed up render time for around 25% to 30%, i am very happy and finally give a try today, but the result is disappointed me.
Yes i have a intel core i7 3820 processor which is support SSE and AVX in the CPU.
According to what i learn from this forum, Vray 2.40.04 user cannot get embree plugin from the following link: http://help.chaosgroup.com/vray/misc/, after extract the file, copy the vrayembree2013 in the 3ds max plugin folder, because it dont have vrayembree2014 in the folder, but it has been confirm from this forum that you can use vrayembree20133 instead. am i missing anything??
The image look same, but my question is with embree it only increase 1 minute fatser rendering?? not 25% to 30%??
That’s right, I forgot. I haven’t heard much about Embree, so I don’t think that it turned the industry on its side. I do know that it works better than VRay’s core algorithm. People smarter than me will know more and might response with more help.
In V-Ray 2.x, Embree will only accelerate static geometry so it’s best to set the default geometry type to “static” in the V-Ray System tab. Since V-Ray 3.1, Embree can accelerate other kinds of geometry too.
I guess Embree will show more rendertime speed up for more complicated scenes … here we can see big improvements with our (big) scenes, when it comes to deal with several millions of polys, thousands of objects ! I may be wrong, but TBH, I wouldn’t expect big improvements with a single object shot
I assume the white spots are because of not enough samples, can you post some Sample rate passes and you can also try with version 2.50.01
You can also post the scene too and we will tell you what are the times with version 3.0.
Increasing the Dome-Light subdivisions should help to reduce the white spots noise.
Decreasing Color Threshold value from Image Sampler should help to improve Image Sampler quality.
If the above tips do not help please send us the scene for investigation.
I did notice in the first 2 renderings at the start of the thread that the Embree one has a small white dot that appears in the middle of the seat cushion. not sure if that was a sampling issue as well.
