Hi everyone,
I am currently rendering and in the attached image you can see on the Herringbone Laminate floor I use the GPU and it is all blurry. When I just use ‘Vray-6 Hotfix’ it’s perfect, the result is in the highlighted blue square.
Can anyone please advise what settings I have wrong with the GPU so I can render the same results as the ‘Hotfix’. Is it something to do with the ‘denoise’>
Thank you so much
I don’t see any noted denoiser changes in the log. Could you strip down the scene (leave only the floor) and attach it here so we can take a look?
Hi thank you so much for getting back to me.
For the past few years I switch to another modelling software but returning back to 3DS Max now. Always use Vray though!
I am just confused at the moment with the settings/options. I have ‘Hotfix’ which I believe uses the CPU and then the ‘Hotfix GPU’. I obviously want to render with the GPU for faster renders. But they come out so noisy, unlike the CPU. If I put denoiser on the elements section for the GPU it comes out super blurred as you can see in my previous render above.
I just want the results and accuracy of the CPU render (in the blue box) but at the speed of the GPU. Any ideas?
Thank you again,
Kind Regards
We recommend choosing a rendering engine (CPU or GPU) based on the project you’re working on and sticking to it. GPU rendering is a huge topic, to sum up in a single post - try surfing through the GPU section of the forums and learn more about it.
Otherwise, maybe your CPU settings are set for a higher quality than the GPU ones, with the denoiser doing its job. Try increasing the Samples limit and/or lowering the Noise limit; play around with the denoiser’s strength as well.
