vrayscene sequence loader

V-Ray V-Ray for 3ds Max General

Hi guys,
I want to export xgen hair from maya as vrayscene and want to write out one file per frame and load it in 3dsmax since one frame already has 2gig of data and therefore writing it into a single frame is not an option.
This is regarding vray 3.6. Is this currently possible?

Hi,

Loading a sequence of vrscene files is not yet supported in V-Ray for 3ds Max, but is on our to-do list for a future V-Ray update.

cool it works, but why its not possible to do this by some token like on all other vray distributions?

It is not implemented for 3ds max (most likely due to the difference in V-Ray integration for that particular host platform). We’ll make a note of it.

Hi I’m back with related problem. If we use one file include solution. Vray loads all the files as it wa one big file. So this cause big network overload on our network. Any solution? It’s really important for us to get this to work. Thanks

Well, that’s normal. Note that the base .vrscene can be a single frame; afterwards, you can include other .vrscenes in the combo file depending on which frames you wish to render and use the -frames option in Standalone.
