washed out exr

hello

I am working in LWF and for an animation project I saved the output to exr files. I applied a linear colormapping 1/1. I am also rendering with VFB and the images looks good, but when I look at the saved exr files then everything is very washed out. is this right? I have to apply a inverse gamma curve to it in post to get as the ouptut in VFB.

I save the exr trough the vrimg option, so I can’t setup anything.

What application are you viewing the OpenEXR files with? Many of them automatically apply an sRGB color curve for display purposes.

it doesn’t matter what app I am watching it. normally in photoshop or aftereffects.

What does it look like if you open it in 3ds Max (View image file…) and specifically override the file gamma to be 1.0?

Best regards,
Vlado

This is normal for me. I always put an inverse gamma in photoshop after opening it up.

What I do is Override the Gamma to 1.0 when saving the file.

hey

yes i do the same i apply the 1.0 in 3d max before its much easier.
