What's the best way for me a sole remote working freelancer to find/get new clients (based in my country, UK) ?

I’ve never been good at finding new clients - I simply don’t have a technique other than those who get in touch with me via my website.

I’m not a marketing type, so I guess now’s the time to learn and become one…

I have a website that’s in a pretty good position in Google, and I get *some* work from that, but I’ve never had to go/get new clients… until now.

Any ideas/suggestions please on how I can find/get new clients ?

Even if it’s to “go read this book”, or “go do this course”…

Do I pick up the phone and just call people? (I’m guessing that it’s best to speak than email because I personally don’t like receiving emails looking for work…).

And if it’s about picking up the phone and calling, who do I ask for?

How about networking?

I live in a rural area, so am not interested in going into working at a client’s office (the commute alone would tire me out, I know, I’ve tried that before…).

Any ideas please?

Many thanks

(working alone from home, I can do with all the bouncing off ideas as I can get  ).

Thanks again.

Targeted ADs on Google and Facebook has been helpful for me personally, I have had some marketing guy help me with that in the past, as it is not an easy task, you would want to spend this money in the best possible way
I have used Instagram as well (mostly automotive and product design) it was helpful

On another note I find myself working with older clients all the time, I think it is normal. Lets say 80% of the work I have done this years was for clients I had known in the past, some clients are very loyal  and finding new clients that could afford the high rates takes time which is fine as well
I have also ran into people here in the community who I showed my work and offered my services being confident in what I do, I mostly contact people by Email, it is just what I did, but I think calling might even be better. I would love to hear from others

Best,

Muhammed
