Which WINDOWS version to use with XP64 slaves?

Hi,

since Adobe Flash doesn’t work anymore for XP64 web browser, I ask me is time to upgrade my WINDOWS? Which version do I need? There are a lot of 64bit Win7 versions, but which one is needed to get the render network running? I don’t like to upgrade all my slaves and would like to stick at XP64 for the slaves.

Hi Micha,

I have windows 7 64 professionnal on my main computer,xp64 on one of the slave and windows 7 64 professionnal on the other one,everything is working without problem.

Great - should I something attend, if I use Win7 instead XP.

I also use Win 7 64 bit professional (through boot camp) and I have no issues with it.

right now I would say no,this is as stable as XP I did not have any problems with it.But those are not upgraded system,I bought them with windows 7 64 installed.

Today my SSD crashed and so I thought time to buy a new one and install Win7. … some hours later - I don’t get the Rhino SR9 installed, I get the error that I need to install Rhino 4 from CD first, but I did. I now I use my system backup on an old HDD.

That is strange,I have windows 7 pro,I also have Rhino 4 sr 9 on it it is working ok,never had a problem installing it.

I found that I could cause the problem by a folder named “Programme” that I copied from my old system to the new. In this folder I collect all software that runs without installation (like MoI3D), but also Rhino is there installed, because the plugins/scripts where I used paths that I wanted to keep at this naming. I have seen now that Win7 is using the name “Programme” for the folder “Program Files” by a WINDOWS trick. So, it looks like I must to solve the mismatch first.
