So whos looking forward to Z brush 3 being released?
yep, refresing the webpage and zbrushcentral all the time hehe :). bummer they are not on time
they should have had enough time to prepare if you ask me.
new website is up… now waiting for the update link ![]()
do anyone of you know if there´ll be a demoversion available ?
Tom
it might follow a month or so after release
How does it compare to mudbox? similar or totally different.
Colin
similar but different! ZB3 will be a huge improvement, but Mudbox 2 will be interesting when its released
Think that zb3 will be still far more unintuitive, than mudbox…
I think ZB held the crown for number of polys that could be handled in realtime, while the interface in mudbox was a lot more streamlined, and a wee bit more intuitive up to ZB 2.5.
I’m very curious about how ZB 3 will fare, though.

Without Mudbox, i dont think ZB 3 would have such an amazing array of features. Competition is good!
Personally, I can’t wait to test it… the videos showing the new tools and workflow are stunning.
On the other side, the thing is results with Zbrush are strictly proportional to your own artistic skills, and I think its much more visible with this app than with any Max/Maya program. That’s why my attempts with ZB 2 are totally crap. I presume ZB 3 will be no different
on one hand yes. Zbrushes dumb ui is a big detraction. On another, since this is a version 3, it will be a lot more powerful in all areas. 256 cpu support, full multithreading. 64 bit suport. Looks like awesome texture painting capobilities. Shaders, etc. mudbox at the moment is just a modeling app. However, mudbox 2 will have also the texturing power and more. Cannot say more then this ![]()
Absolutely OT: a goddam nice reel u got there at zoic, featuring some of the major TV shows right now! I have enjoyed’em all!! Congrats!
thanks! but 99% of that reel is before I came there… now, trying to push vray through as a part of their render engine…its a fun ride ![]()
LOL morbid, best of luck.
On the ZB side, it was all really down to the T key and some small click/alt click/alt click drag combos.
Granted mudbox is a LOT more like PS, but gosh.
Also almost as slow…

zb3
I am not sure which userinterface is better…
first i felt, mudbox was great, cause it feels like you are used to, a programm should feel.
But !!
Zbrush is without compromise build for using a bord, to paint on. Once familiar with it it is very fast i think. And also there right now are a lot and i mean realy a lot of more powerful featueres integratet as mudbox.
It took me a while to understand the power of those 2 and a half d pixel things. for example beeing able to produce very fast very impressive unlimited tilable textures for surfaces, with displacementmaps and normalmaps.
but.. of course, i am still a beginner and could be wrong…
Tom
ZB3 - supposedly amazing
I am a casual ZB 2.5 user, have ZB3 ( in work ) but haven’t used it yet - what I hear from over on the Modo forum ( alot of big users over there - Rick Baker ect.)
ZB3 is amazing and improves alot of the interface / workflow oddness.
Personally I am on the cusp of purchase, I think it is around $445 on Trinity 3D a very tempting price, although I really should pull up my socks and learn bloody modo before I spend anymore $$ on software, so easy to buy so hard to learn ![]()
i read on pixologic forum that if you own zb2 then zb3 is a free upgrade…
So folks, what are your feelings so far about ZB3?
i love it…
