  • Program error on random frames - Render farms

    Hello,
    I hope someone can help.

I keep getting random frames that have program errors. 100% of my production uses render farms, both Chaos cloud and Ranch Computing. I get frame issues with both. These happen on shadow passes as well as RGB and all are output in .exr format.

    Thanks

    Hi jarrodw,
    1. Can you please let us know whether this happens with every frame or some frames open correctly?
    2. Have you tried to open the EXRs with the VFB in V-Ray?
    Thanks,

      Thanks Vladie,
The errors are random and not every frame, in after effects they look like the frame didn't finish rendering as shown in my initial post.

I did just have an image from Chaos Cloud a few minutes ago come back with an error and it did open OK in VFB.

        Hi jarrodw,

Thanks for the follow-up! Can you please share a link to the job where the frames have this issue? The URL holds the job ID which we can use to investigate the job. If it's more convenient for you, you can share the link in a direct message to me here in the forum.

          Hello Vladie,
I'm beginning to realize that it's the denoise that's causing the issue. Chaos Cloud gives me a denoise (effectsResult) and non-denoised version. The base files are all fine. Does this make sense? Again, it's random but consistent enough to case issues.

          Thanks,
          Jarrod

            Hi Jarrod,

We plan to improve the way we display effectsResult as now it's a bit obscure whether it's rendered or not. Hope this will improve cases like yours. We'll follow up once we have update on this.

                Hi jarrodw,

BTW if you can share a short video of the issue this might give us more info about it. Alternatively you can shot a video next time you experience the issue and share it with us in Support. Whatever is more convenient for you.

                Thanks,
                Vladie
