  • Caustics not rendering correctly

Hi, I'm using Chaos Cloud to render several architecture visualization images. Using caustics Photon map option, the caustics render correctly locally but when rendering in chaos cloud the result is not the same, this can be seen in the attached images.
I'm using VRay 5 update 2.2 with 3ds max 2022, and disabling generate caustics in all geometry except for the water geometry.

Is there any solution for this problem? Thanks in advance!

    Hi wojciech_hydzik,

Can you share a scene file with us via our support system to investigate it in more detail? Please don't forget to mention my name or this thread in your request. Thanks!

Hi viktoria.dimitrova , do you mean a .vrscene file or a 3ds max file? Already opened a ticket with the id #22015, I can upload the file there or to create a new one?

Hi wojciech_hydzik, can you share the 3ds Max file in your open ticket.

We will later post the resolution here so it can help the other users on the forum.

            Hi wojciech_hydzik,

The discrepancy comes from the V-Ray light properties not being exported to the .vrscene file (which is used for rendering in Chaos Cloud and V-Ray Standalone). We have the issue is logged in our internal bug tracking system as VMAX-11513.

              Viktoria,
Has there been any work / resolution on this? Actually a big issue if you think about it as I chose chaos cloud specifically to render a large set of images heavy on caustics for a client. Can you give us an update or suggest an interim service to use until this has been resolved? thank you. J.

                Hi james_anderson,

I'm sorry for the delay of our response! I'll escalate the issue with the dev team and will follow up with you once I have details or timeframe for the fix.

                Thanks,

Hello, Yes i have reported this issue also already twice and am getting the same results as described above.
This makes a lot of scenes incapable of rendering on the Cloud, so it is quite important fix.

I see the conversation is month old, and i just tested it again and give same result.
Is there any development on this please ?
                  THanks

Or actually, is there any workaround at all ?
Maybe how the scene is packed or how the subdiv setting can be exposed and exported ?

                      Hello everyone,

The fix should be publicly available with the upcoming hotfix 1 of V-Ray 6.1 in a couple of weeks. I'll follow up here once it's available.

I'm sorry for keeping you waiting!

                      Thanks,
