  • Support GPU rendering....?

So every now and then I have a crack at Vray Cloud and it lets me down. But not rendering with GPU?

    Come on guys.

We are towards the end of the project for enabling true GPU rendering on the Chaos Cloud; I hope it will be available in a few weeks.

    Best regards,
    Vlado

      Hi JD3D_CGI ,

Yesterday we announced official support for native GPU when rendering V-Ray GPU jobs in Chaos Cloud. Please give it a try and share your feedback.

      Thanks,

Hi, does Chaos Cloud support RTX engine or just CUDA? Also does it matter which one we have set prior to uploading to Chaos Cloud?

        Thanks,

          Hi James,

Yes, Chaos Cloud supports both RTX and CUDA and we respect your selection from the V-Ray settings in the host app.

Thanks, just curious to know though why there is such an option. Assuming that you do not need an RTX enabled GPU locally to render RTX on the cloud, why would anyone wish to upload as CUDA on the GPU if RTX is much faster? Or does CUDA on the GPU also use CPU on the cloud as well?

              Hi ,

We found some small differences between the results of CUDA GPU and RTX, and want to make sure clients get what they expect.

We also have a separate CUDA CPU option to render only on CPUs. This option is useful if there is any issue with the GPU cards and can't be used, or the memory of the GPU cards that we currently use is not enough to render the scene on GPU.

Ah fair enough. I didn't realise there were small differences between RTX and CUDA. Is there a list somewhere with those details?

, no, I'm sorry, we haven't yet documented those differences.
