  • Clone current Frame job to Frame Range job

I think the clone job functionality is my favourite thing in Chaos Cloud. I do wish that having submitted a single frame render it were possible to change it to a full frame range. This would be a great way to submit a test frame and then complete the render. Another useful function would be to render a frame range every 10 frame or so and then have a "Fill frame gaps" function to render the rest of the sequence without re-rendering the rendered frames.

    Hi Danieal,

Hm, these options are available in Chaos Cloud. Let me check with the V-Ray for Houdini team what might be the issue or whether you can use the Chaos Cloud Submit UI instead of the Houdini UI.

      Hey thexdan ,

The Chaos Cloud ROP node does check the Increment option for the Frame Range specified on the ROP.
Click image for larger version Name:	houdinifx_2020-12-14_17-12-20.png Views:	0 Size:	15.8 KB ID:	1095850

However, if any increment is present, there will be no information stored in the VRScene for the frames that are not part of the list of frames to render.
I've added a request for our developers to add an Ignore Frame Range Increment for Export - this way the VRScene will contain the required data to render the entire frame range but only the specified frames (with consideration of the Increment) will be rendered. You could then re-submit the job with an increment of 1 and get the full animation.

The issue is logged as HOU-2316 - I'll ping you as soon as the toggle is added.

EDIT: Turns out there's an issue with the increment for the Cloud export - I was about to give you a Post-Translate Script to workaround the issue until we implement the new functionality and hit that. Please do not use it for the time being - we'll fix it ASAP.

      Best regards!

        Thanks Gosho and Vladie,

Clone job lets you change teh frame-range, but not resubmit a "Current Frame" render to "Frame Range".

Gosho.Genchev Your sollution to the fill ranges sounds good!

Kind of related issue (not really a Cloud thing though) is that it would be nice if the ROP had an arbitray frame-range option as well (so you could manually submit a bunch of frames like `1001-1010, 1023-1025, 1117, 1119` without changing the timeline frame-range.

Indeed, that sounds useful - I'll check with the developers and get back to you.

          Best regards!
