WOW!! Stunning work Jon - a really good mix of subject matter, all to a very high standard. It's good to see all the stuff again that you have posted on the forum over the past months. It doesn't look like commercial work though, so are you looking for a job with your reel? Please tell me this wasn't all produced in your spare time!

great work dude! Would loved to have seen more of that excellent parrot. Some of the animation is better then others, but as a non animator, its brilliant compared with what I can do.

Pretty awesome! I had to watch it many times

I'd love to see more of that parrot... The feathers look so detailed, the rig must be pretty cool. As you could probably guess, I'm trying to learn how to go about rigging feathers myself .

And the music goes very nicely... especially with that traditional japanese cottage...

This was all done in my spare time, I currently have a job but my projects contract is just about to end and I want to move on after being with the same company for six years. I don't do anything close to this type of work where I am now. I've had a few responses from job enquiries lately but the one I was really hoping for didn't think I had the animation skills in the end so I did that other little animation at the bottom of my first post while learning Maya in the past two days.

              Any leads in Northern California?

Wow, I get so many comments on that parrot and I wasn't ever too happy with the animation myself Unfortunately, the background is a photo so I don't really have much more of an environment to work with. The feathers are displaced, the wings are animated with two bend modifiers and the tail feathers are hand animated. He follows a somewhat wavy path stepping up then down a little.

              Thanks for all your comments,

I like the reel a lot. The pieces are brought together nicely. Two things that I found of less quality is the movement of the two airplanes in the beginning and the donut-scene. Your other work is of higher standard.

                    the donut-scene
you're the second person to call them this though they were meant to be bagels Oh well, I guess it goes to show something.

                    Thanks,

wow top class work, Love the car and the planes (what did you use for the land in the planes shot?) I would change the music a bit, maybe a bit more up-tempo,

                      Great work,

                      Tom

                          Fantastic!!!

Really good work. Even my cat enjoyed watching it, he meowed when that cat statue moved!!
He was sitting on my lap at the time

                            lol!

Somehow, I was imagining some complex IK rig that handled every feather when the wing opened.

Goes to show, simple is better.

You would think huh? but maybe that's why I'm not getting too many bites... cuz I took the simple approach on most of my pieces
