  • Mountain kitchen.

    Hey everybody!
I would like to share with you my first personal Archviz project after almost a year in this industry. It is was a non profit project of a kitchen I did for my girlfriend's parents. I wouldn't be myself If I say I am 100% happy with and end results but I gotta start something new. I would highly appreciate any feedback from you guys, I am aware I have done many errors due to lack of experience in an Archviz field so please do not hesitate to point them out.

Everything was modeled from the scratch in in Maya except the downloaded kitchen spoons and radiator.

I started with CPU (i7-7700HQ) engine but after adding more details the render times stretched to something like 5-7h per frame (2K res) so I switched to CUDA (gtx 1060 mobile) and it pretty much halven the render times, although it added more noise.

I would take out the fabric above the kitchen range, It's unpractical and it will get full of grease. The location of the faucett looks weird and I would put a better-looking kitchen range to complement that oven.
      show me the money!!

Thanks for your comment flino2004. You are probably right about the fabric being unpractical, though design choices were not so much up to me, but I still think that fabric hanging there is a nice compliment to the ones for cabinets. The facett and the sink are not from the same set so even though its position is correct according to the manufacturer, it may still look odd, idk... (Maybe its faucet angle gives that is too straight and gives that impression?).

It's an awkward little space but you've done pretty well I reckon. The lighting is as the reference and the renders overall look fine. It is the design which lets it down a bit, in my opinion - though as you say that is not your choice. Those curtains etc. are utterly horrendous and the images would be way better without them, if you can convince them (or lose them if you show the image in a portfolio)
You could then add some plates etc. into the cupboards.
Definitely could do with a more modern hob arrangement.
The tiles look odd to me; very sharp looking, so maybe could be softened a bit. Some more entourage on the surfaces maybe - some greenery...
There's some tiling on the floorboards but that's a quick fix.
          All in all, good stuff

Hey fixeighted the space is indeed very small and I felt like I could not really play much with a camera position. Haha so these curtains are that bad you say? For the normal map of the tiles I played a lot with blurring it in PS + applying various filtering inside maya but I guess I simply would have to re-bake them with more refined geometry. Thank you so much for your insights!

Nice render, the wall unit / upper unit should not be same depth as the base unit.
                Best regards,
