Here is my first pass of a hotel guest room. kind of a rush job. leaving tomorrow for a week and trying to get something for the client, architect and interior designer so they can review and discuss while I'm away. anticipate revisions after I return from travels.

Any critique, comments or suggestions for improvement are welcome as always.

Not sure on what first pass means in terms of how far you feel you need take the image or how constrained you are regarding the make up of the room, but tbh it needs quite a bit of work.

If you are able, you could certainly rethink the texture choices, something complimentary, as they are pretty grim looking at the moment, not inviting at all. Bathroom light is creepy, door isnt a great choice. Drawers and TV look bigger than the bed, and the assets arent great. You can get much better ones than those. Lights are too red and feels dull and flat, are there any windows that could cast some shadows? The desklight on the right is lost in the composition.

Have you looked at any reference images for interior dressing of hotel rooms etc.

Overall ask yourself, would you want to stay in that room?

Thanks for your honest review. An interior designer supplied all of the fabrics, furniture, fixtures and door specs.the floor plan is what is designed and that’s how it will be constructed and with this furniture plan. So... none of those are in my control. The tv and dresser are modeled,to real, size. The perspective makes them appear larger I guess. There is one window directly behind the camera. I may try shining some sun thru it, not sure if that will be desire able . Agree it’s stark.I plan to ask about maybe some art fort new ll above the sofa. Put some minor accessories in like a remote, small object on dresser, etc.

I have one plane light from behind the camera where the window is and a smaller light on left aimed right to give some directionality.

      Any other suggestions most welcome.

I would just go with one good HDRI and see what happens. You'll get some nice colors from it and it might help add interest.

I don’t know what happened. I added an updated version to a new reply but I don’t see it. Dang. Can’t add it now because I’m traveling for the next week. I will show the update when I return.

OK managed to get the update from email on iPad. I added vray sky/sun. Turned plane light at window into skylight portal. Set sun low in he sky for late day light. Moved armoire to opposite side of desk cabinetry. Now it is just behind the room divider versus closer to entry door as before. Added some minor accessories.

Bobby, I will experiment with using hdri/dome light when I get back to this next week. Thanks for your suggestion!

Well, there's nothing to be done about the choice of fabrics etc. as it's out of your control - however they probably could be be improved as another poster mentioned, with some better models...most prominently the bed I think. Though the sofa and the pouffes could be altered a bit to soften them perhaps.
I noticed the chair seems to be either too small or it's set too low and so looks weird imo.
You have an upright door handle cutting into the drawers on the desk and also something strange going on with the white pillows on the far bed - doubled/reversed geometry maybe.
I would also agree about the strong light coming from the back door and the overall redness of the lights

Thanks for your helpful review and comments. I modeled most of the stuff to match the spec sheets. I did not model the bed, sofa or desk chair. That chair does look to have kind of a low seat height, I will check that and raise as needed. The upright door handle you mention is on a small refrigerator that is built in and has a finished wood panel on the door.

I will bring up/cool the temperature of the light fixtures a bit since a couple of you have commented on that. The light coming out of the bathroom door is something that both the developer and interior designer really like so that will likely stay as is.

The bed is older model from a previous project. I will look for something better, but unfortunate now that I have sign off esp on the fabrics I made for the duvet, skirt and lumbar pillows, it may not be worth upsetting the apple cart to put all that on a better:model. May be a case of don’t fix something that already works.

Thnanks again to all for your valuable feedback!
