I have been trying to close a deal on this one for a while, probably three months. I signed it on Thursday, got the files on Friday and the deadline was Thursday. They wanted three versions and the colors and materials were up to me. I sent a gray-scale proof Monday morning, as promised and he asked if I'll have all three colors by morning, for his meeting. Say what? There was a misunderstanding on the due date, I am told, but I pulled it off.

    Do you have a preference?

That's what investment in rapid tech enables us to do Time-wise I'd say that's about spot on for this. I typically work from Friday to Monday so these types would fit nicely into that.
I just upgraded a load of stuff and just in time for incomings which I can now turn around and iterate way faster/less stressfully.
Plus I get to kill zombies etc. at 4k and a splendid frame rate. All good

I don't mind any of them really, though would probably go for the pinkish one as it's a little different to the usual schemes.
Presumably you rendered one once and then simply 'render selected' the additional houses in?
Though with your kit that's probably not even necessary....what times for each of these?

I rendered each one, each one took about 30 minutes. Yesterday I read about AMD's 64 core Threadripper... Holy Crap!

        30 minutes...pretty good going.
I just got a 16 core AMD and a 2080ti RTX and 64 gigs, so am good for what I have coming in.
With what you have you can now do those extra 15 jobs a week!

OMG! I guess the client thought I was going to give him two redesigns plus his provided CAD, all with three different color schemes. Yes, nine renderings in three days and the two new designs I guess was my problem to solve. Design is so subjective, there would be so much reworked I would never work that way.

eejits some of them. I swear it's all bored Friday afternoon twiddling, putting un-called-for pressure on others.
Make them pay for that beast of a cpu is all that I can say
Main thing I'd add is to not let them cotton on to how quick it is to have you turn around projects, as this'll falsely, imo, represent your time/experience/talent, if that makes sense.
You can certainly offer the speed as an extra, but basically it should be better gear/speedier output = more free time. Life/work balance is of great importance

If they make it sound like our job is easy, they will not appreciate what we do. The client that says, "take your time, just make it your best work" is my ideal client.

I have been getting a lot of people trying to make the design process easy and clickable on-line, which is what this guy is trying to do. There must be some building publication writing about design automation and AI, or something. To them, this is what it is. It really isn't any different than what we have been doing for decades. Pick a button and see the roof in brown, click another and see it without a covered porch. Of course, the price will change with each decision you make... I guess it is a poor man's AI. When you are on the bleeding edge, this stuff is old, but it seems like it is just now becoming mainstream. Anybody else seeing this trend?

There've been examples around for years but few/far between. More nowadays of course. Just the way it goes when stuff gets quicker/cheaper to output.
I imagine to see it creep more into the fashion industry e.g., where we can provide a 3d accurately built garment in a range of designs/colours that will naturally save on multiple photoshoots.
That would be a profitable gig to get
