Oh, haha. Definitely not!
I just self illuminate the leaves 10% and give them a pretty good specular.
I don't normally use vray materials.
By the way, to get enough light inside the forest, I turn my multiplier on the sun up to 8.0 and even add a few extra lights on the sides that just effect the trees.
