  • Patio, too late

I was trying to get this done in time for a competion but I have missed the deadline :P

Still some stuff to be done if i ever get back to it, everything was modeled fresh for this image.

nice job. my only beef is that the design aspects parts of the image give it a toonish look that Im not sure you were going for.

Eric, looks great, love the lighting on the floor...nice shadows. I think the black edging on the pillows gives it a bit unnatural look tho. perhaps some softening on the image too...seems to crisp in all areas. Water in the pool is hard to notice. Towels look little strange too. Love the plants maybe some mountains for the distance.

Thanks for the input and the kind words

I'll make it a point to put them to use and finish the scene. The horizon could use something, maybe some clouds. I also planned to landscape the top of the slope to break it up a bit.

The plants in the foreground were modeled in plant studio I just made a couple different branches and then instanced them around. The palm trees are simple geometry using displacement to give the fronds thickness and outline using clipping.

very nice Eric , I think that if you put some water in the pool with reflexion on the tile Your image will be more realistic.
I like your white sofa mtl.

This work is powerful in my opionion. Even though some details might have to be refined (e.g. the gaps between the tiles on the foreground), but it is really well done. If put it against black background, and zoom it to a smaller size, narrow your eyes to ignore some details, so as to focus on the whole, you will find its strength.

I'm wondering what would happen if arranging a big enough shadow area on the foreground. Many architectural elements can do the trick. Some chairs and plants in the shadows, appearing to be silhouettes; part of smooth floor in the shadow can reveal many subtle details (e.g. slight glossy reflections, and tiny surface texture). This can well balance the other part of the image, which is bright and has fewer details; therefore adding depth to the image. Perhaps some columns and horizonal handrails under the shadow on the foreground can also help strengthening this type composition.
