Long time no post. Nothing special here, just my bread and butter work.

Often, my clients want one or two views, and it is such a missed opportunity to get some detailed images. I ended up rendering some close-ups out. I had a real hard time balancing the white siding. Either it came off gray or over-exposed. Any tips? As usual, constructive criticism is welcome.

Railclone for almost everything - it really slowed my viewport performance. Does anybody else have this issue? I would change cameras and wait 3-4 minutes for MAX to wake up. Turning things off/on in the layer manager caused the same thing to happen. It was frustrating as heck.

A little too warm on this one. I was going for the warm afternoon feel.

This is one of the views my client wanted, but he had the sun behind the camera. I moved it to where I thought best and rendered it out again for my own pleasure.

This is one in which the siding came off gray. I darkened the white slightly, but it made a huge impact. I like the contrast, but it is supposed to be a white siding.

I wanted to give the glass some interest, which I think worked with some noise. However, the center patio has too much noise, although it is the same glass as the rest. Usually my clients do not want curtains, but this client wanted his black window muntins to pop, and the only way I could do it was white curtains behind the windows.

good to see your excellent work again! For the issue of the white siding - try adjusting the white balance. either in the frame buffer or in pshop with camera raw filter. hope that may help.

i think that noise in the widow glass looks odd.... some subtle amount of reflected simulated surroundings might be better?

Do Max and vray and everything else run OK on WIndows 11 for you?

Thank you for the kind words. Yes, I usually do some white balancing in PS. For the client's final, I did, but for these, I didn't. I agree with the glass.. a little overkill. I like the effect, but it needs to be a lot more subtle. The client thought seeing his mutton was of the highest priority, so i really cranked up the noise until he was happy. Everything is working fine on my laptop under Windows 11, with no problems at all. Again, thank you for the kind words.

I think the bump on the glass is too strong, makes them look like cheap plastic. I'd do 20% of what you have, or so. And break up the texture so that the same pattern doesn't go from one pane to the next. each pane would likely have it's own distortion pattern, not one continuous pattern across them all. That would be my suggestion

I think there needs to be a thread based on actual photos of things which, if done in CG, would look just plain wrong
Purely out of interest of course, just to see how so many things in reality are just so un-aesthetic and odd looking.

I have seen so many real-world instances of obvious tiling in materials, due to so many production methods being based on digital noise etc.
I live in Bath in the UK and here there is a sort of law that says all the stone that is used in 'new-builds' has to match the existing
              sandstone.
However, because of the lack of actual Bath stone (the quarries are depleted) developers, to cut costs, use cinder blocks clad with a composite
or, more horribly, use cast sandstone bricks which look awful to me. They are meant to look like rough cut stone but clearly show repetitions.

Here's one example. Hopefully you'll agree it's unpleasant.

And yes Bobby, that window noise is extreme lol...but you know that, so all good

It seems like profit prevails. If you can find a cheaper way to do it, they'll do it. I see tiling fake brick, stone, and shingles, everywhere. Here are some photos I took of a local park. I mean, the manpower that went into these structures. It seems like no cost was spared. What happened to architecture. I think it is sad.
