I'm buying actually, after all the helpful hints, and it may have to be some fine wine

Anyway, my work progressed and after a day of texturing I'm at this stage.
I went with World Machine ultimately, having finally worked out a solid process...still much to learn about it though.
I've not tackled such a large landscape before, so I'm quite pleased with the result.
The ground level one is effectively my staging area for the main shot, so it needed to look fairly granular at that resolution.
I will add a few scrubby plants as well a the tone of tiny stones that are already there, to break it up some more.

Please suggest improvements or any other thoughts

It's coming along great, you already have a very nice landscape with the new textures, I'm sure it will get even better in a few days once you add the plants and stones near your shot of that megascan rock formation.
The aerial perspective at the end will help with the final realistic feel.
There are some very helpful guys at the WM forum if you ever need some more info on terrains and extracting masks in the future and use the sample terrain files provided by the software to see how it was put together, it's a good way to start from something already done and then teak it.

Thanks.... I think it'll stand up great in the actual end product, as much of it will be in quite heavy dof and the zoom out will be pretty quick also.
There are still challenges with blending the massive land part with the surrounding stuff, plus growing art directed grass on a 20m tall logo but it'll all work out I'm sure
