  • Knight Character - WIP

    Hello folks,

It's been a really really really really long time since I've been productive on my project... so here's a peek at the latest character (only 6 more to go! I just keep adding more and more... yikes).

Some expressions, and worked a little on that old skin shader too. Planning to rework it in 1.5 with the fast SSS later, it's more work but actually I'm looking forward to it!

And here's his suit of armor that I'm currently painting textrues for. UV unwrapping this thing was the absolute longest week of my life... still waiting at the front door for number 8 to arrive

    Any and all comments welcome!

Thanks for all the kind words!

Eep... looks I moved some UVS after exporting the UV unwrap for painting. That wierd bump at the mouth corners is the bump for the moustache area folicles! ... I'll add it to the "to be fixed" list.

                    woooooow.

The face is amazing. Although the SSS is maybe a touch to red on the dark side/shadowed side.

                    Just amazing... best head ever.

p.s. get your minds out of the gutter

Gijs, it's for a personal project... a short fantasy themed animation. I don't know if I'll ever finish it :P

Thanks for the tips... I will tone down the Red SSS-ness a smidge

By the way. Is that morphs or bones used in the facial animation?

It's all morphs, but uses a facial rig to generate the morphs.

Mostly to save time and filespace, so I only create the morphs I need. Just have to get the facial rig in position (in a seperate base file), take a snapshot and then add it to the character file's morpher mod.

I was going to go with all bones, but since there'll be a crowd of these guys, I didn't want all the extra weight. I wasn't sure how to handle hitting the same expressions over and over accurately with bones, and also saving loading the animation seemed less straightforward.

I suppose to get the nice arcing motions of bones I could use progressive morphs and take snapshots in between, but I didn't do that. Haven't run many animated tests, so not really sure how well the current setup is working.
