Thanks mcphep, jujubee. Eyelashes, but I made the material quite light so they're hardly noticable. I tried it darker but it looked like he's wearing mascara

Here's an update. Painted the helmet, gambeson + chausse, and leather straps. In progress are the plate armor, swords, and bits of the sword harness. Oh, gotta do the mail skirt soon too (Morbid's chainmail displace tutorial is gonna come in handy, thanks for sharing that, Morbid. )

        Hey guys,

I've updated the pic above. Almost there, and then it's re-rigging time with max 8 (it came! ).

Posing with the ghoul, but still no environment, sorry! And sorry for the grain, 1/5 adaptive qmc wasn't good enough, so I went crazy with 'add noise' to try get the rest of the scene as noisy :P.

Finished with the rigging, spent most of the week porting rigs from max 7 to 8. The new CS twist bones and twist poses are pretty great! Too bad about the miscellaneaous biped bugs though. Oh well, better start on the next char while waiting for the service pack.

Hey, thanks guys. Not sure when the animation starts, I'm hoping to start in Feb or March (with most assets finished by then). I'll definately drop in a test animation or two when I get to it.

Keyword is "hoping" of course . If only I could work on this all day.

                              thats coool.

Is the parts of the armor driven by reactor?

Haha, uh yeah. Backgrounds... someday soon I hope.

Reactor is used for the two metal plates strapped to the fauld (metal skirt) - they are connected to the breastplate with linear dashpots. The chain mail skirt (that wasn't rendered) is using max cloth (not reactor). It isn't rendered because I didn't animate from default to current pose... so the cloth sim kinda blew up. The rest is non dynamics.
