Nice pictures. I would adjust the amount of mix between noise and dark sidewalk segment lines, and shrink the noise pattern on the curbs. I found that I could get a sharper bump, viewed at an angle, by setting the blur amount on the noise map, or bitmap to between .2 and .4. It's a compromise between a shimmering noise if set too small, and the default of 1.0 which often looses most detail.
How much time/memory does the displacement mapped grass add/increase?
One more question that I have to ask. I ask this question often here without a responce: How do you post images that show up, instead of a link to a hosted image?
Thanks. You're right about the sidewalk joints and noise. Render time is pretty bad with all the proxies (onyx trees) and displacement. About 1.5 hr @ 1024x768 on an X2 4400+. Final prints will take about 8 hr each. I havn't rendered without the displacement but I would imagine it accounts for about 25% of the render time. The paint samples are just for review purposes and won't be on the final.

Thanks for the comments. The first image is reposted and is the final. Brightned the sky some and tweaked the landscaping. 9 hours render time. Second image is still grinding away.

How are you proxying the onyx trees? Do you first position your trees then select all of them and proxy out as one file, or pick each one individually and proxy? I tried to proxy this weekend, but it did not seem to make any difference in render time. Infact....I am having many problems with memory and onyx trees......I am using Windows XP64 which resoloved all my memory issues....but as soon as I got the onyx trees, the problem returned...that is when I render with around say 25 trees. And even worse if I want to use the UVW leaves (I really do not like the default color of the leaves, especially when the trees are in the forground). I think your trees would be much better in the scene with the UVW mapped leaves.
I have to say I think the grass and trees make the view for me. Not sure about the architecture(which may not have been your choosing either) but the image is clear, crisp and I like it.
Any chance of sharing your grass settings with us?
