Lovely! I agree that wood looks fantastic. The irregularity of the finish on the table and benches is tasty.

As for the background image that's been mentioned, I feel that more than the value and saturation, that the perspective is very slightly off, making it appear flat upon second glance. Of course, I have no idea how one would go about matching the perspective in such a case, since there's no regular vanishing points.

But this is nitpicking, especially coming from a beginner as myself, as I'd be ecstatic to get such great results myself! Very nice work.

          nice renders so far.

What i think in the secound immage, where the opening is, it would look much more realistic if you could see more light comming in compared to the paper wals at the opening.

What ever light there is outside, when you have an opening this more light should be also visible on the wood in front of the opening and also at the ceiling ? above the opening.

otherwise the outside always will look like a maped paper

            @ jujubee

Can you share the wood texture of the table, with the bump map as well.
Looks very very good. If not a problem of course !
            Thanks.

            Best regards,

I echo all the complements of the images. Fantastic work. I think the background looks *off* because of the lighting mismatch. The BG looks like it was shot on a cloudy day whilst your image seems to be lit on a much sunnier day, given the quality of light at the right hand corner. Because of that bright corner, you expect more highlights on the trees and shrubs as well as more filtered light coming through the open door. Further, I think the rice paper doors will transmit a slight color from your background. Right now they look perfectly white. I'd give them a slight greenish cast, especially on the left side of the room where there is less influence from the sun. JM2CW

Awesome, Try over expose outside image on second one and than it should be perfect.

Some tips when designing Japanese themed interiors: The traditional dimensions of the tatamis are fixed at 90 cm by 180 cm (the above render looks a bit long - perhaps it is just the angle) normally, poles or supports for the ceiling aren't placed above it...I see very nice Japanese interiors in the forum but the absence of important aesthetic details like these takes away the fun...and a bit of realism..
