The thing about the "Judgment of Paris" was that NO ONE thought america would win anything
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paris_Wine_Tasting_of_1976
Basically wine all over the world is really good now. If anyone is drinking bad wines they need to try a little harder.
The easiest thing now is drinking good wine. It's pointless to say what country makes the best wine, music or beer. If you are drinking bad beer or wine or listening to bad music you only have yourself to blame.
NOW that said I would rather be drinking bad wine in Napoli, Italy or Chamonix, France maybe that is a better pissing contest what country makes it more worth while to suffer through a bad wine.

some days ago i read that in germany the average price ppl pay for a bottle of wine is about 1.50€
(meaning they could spend more, but they tend to keep it cheap)
you really can't expect to get something good for that
as they say:
life's too short to drink bad wine

Not al tradition is good
Not all tradition is good tradition. There is sometimes a price to pay for not changing things for 500 years
I love this short story:

By the way - all wine sucks !!! - it's overrated tosserdom IMHO. Now Guinness, when drunk in Dublin, in a real old man's pub on a cold winters night - or in the summer on a canal bank - that's something worth getting passionate about.

The burden of knowledge is sometimes unbearable
I say, dash history, and let's start from scratch. Youth and wisdom DO go hand in hand.
Who says that the man that doesn't know his past is condemned to repeat it?
A useless twat for sure, says I
