  • Exterior - Interior C&C please

Hi, I have put in some more time on project and would love to get C&C at this point.

I know I need to work on the roof tile texture and also am not happy about the sky/background.

In particular I would appreciate advice on how to get this image look more realistic, looks very computer like to me. And to get some atmosphere into it.

    Thanks

For me, the biggest problem is the pool. Instead of having a ripple space warp, try adding a noise modifier to the water mesh. It should make the water surface look more like the image below:

Also, I think the saturated midnight blue tile is distracting. Most likely only the coping would be tile, and the inside of the pool would be a light blue painted concrete.

Interesting, but if I think about it, the pool in the photo have many people in it, causing the noise effect. My pool have a single stream of water falling into it (not visible from this angle, but there is a water feature behing the stone work) and therefore i thinkwould have a much calmer surface.

yeah. but dont forget that the waves will be reflecting off of the side of the pool. your not going to get perfect ripples. then throw in the wind blowing causing waves of its own. etc etc too many variables

          Your wave is too strong.

about the reallistic face of your pict:
All seems flat, you need sharp shadows with good blue sky and not this dust one. extérior images have more contrast, the bush at the front of the pict seems to be lighten by a little lamp and not by a sun.
May be you tryed to make a light with a dark atmosphere, in this case I think you must change IMHO.
we can see all the tiled map (roof) which is a bad thing.

Thanks for the replies so far.

As for the pool, i will try to get some refers photos loaded, because i think there is so many possibilities with water and all are possible.

As for the mood, I am trying to go for the time of day when its getting close to sunset, the scene is set and the hosts are ready to receive their guests for a dinner party. I would prefer to develope the image along these lines instead of changing the feel to a mid day strong contrast, sharper shadows one. So advice on how to achieve this would be greatly appreciated.

And yes, no need to mention the roof tiles, i know about them

I like the angled fascias - is the wood setting on this different to that used in the gable ends?. They seem to have a slight glossy effect but the wood in the gables doesnt (maybe its just the angle). One thing im not sure about with the roof other than the texture is there is no barge capping to the edges of the roofs on the gables, if this is deliberate it just seems a bit weird!. Id also guess that you may want to make the gable infil more of a panelled or planked wood finish because it isnt very noticable at the moment.

I think you could combine the ripple effect on the water with an overall noise modifier. With such strong clouds in the background you would expect to see a less calm water surface in my opinion.

I think your water needs to somehow pick up a bit more of the background colour. Actually i would change the background first because it looks like its too 'cropped' or zoomed in on a cloudy image. get a bigger background image with more detail in it.

Personally i think you need a bit more internal glow if this image is a semi-evening kind of image. I would crank up the brightness and contrast in post a bit more.

I think the paving stands out as repeating a bit. I would try and get better quality samples of this texture, teh roof and also the wood grain as i think these are the main things that can be improved to make the image excellent. there are a lot of very good parts of the image which will really stand out more if you can fix these few things. Little thingslike the matte metal finish on the showerhead? on teh wall on the right stand out as well - i think a more dramatic chrome finish would look good?

Again, everything above is just personal preference and my opinion but i think overall your image is looking good and it looks like a nice project to develop your skills on. Speaking of which, I would attempt several versions of this job - lunchtime, sunset and night just to figure out a good way to approach these types of images for future jobs (it will save a lot of time)

I dont know if this will link properly but heres a house I worked on last year which not as good as your house i think so you should be able to get it looking MUCH better than this. My image really isnt anything brilliant but im hoping it will help illustrae my point with the internal lighting and water
