yeah, im going to use some more "bop" to his step for sure. the imap setting i used are Irad: Min -3; Max 0; HSph 60; Interp 30; Clr 0.3; Nrm; 0.3; Dist 0.3; Single frame. it gave me pretty good results with no flickering. i guess now that ive got 1.5final i should try to lower those settings and use the animation function

Just be a little carefull with the clr threshold elf. At 0.3 its starting to slow the render. As once you start getting to 0.3 and lower it start exponentially slowing the render. 0.4 would be quicker still and the difference may not even be noticable.
Maybe make his shell a little more loose on his body, now it moves as if the shell is has a rock solid connection to his body wich in reality is not so.
its been ages since i started this project. but with limited budget its more or less work on it while i have free time. Here is another shot of the crab as well as a new character im working on right now.
